I just did an eyelet tube and then narrowed for shoulders. No pattern.

Looked up generic baby hat sizes and just did a stockinette with purl walls, and variegated yarn for the top.

I just read free baby cardigan pattern after pattern and did this somewhat by eye. I counted stitches to make sure the chevron would be right, so that would have been enough of a modification alone to really make a difference in sizing except that it's a baby. It's squishy.
