Sort of a Part 2 of this first gift which I never liked the way that it was wrapped by my messenger.

Doodle

Was thinking about a simple possum line drawing for business cards but too complex a shape. Khyeeee (hiss noise)

Someone saw the gift I made for the dental hygienist when she handled my panic attack and asked for a tooth for her own dental office. I told her it would be kind of psychotic to give a model of my own actual tooth to a total stranger and equally psychotic to stare at her mouth for the same amount of time it would take to make a model of her own tooth but that I would be happy to make her a cute gift and she agreed a tooth fairy would be sweet (no real sugar lol).

Hyper realistic flowers for florist

Finished just in time for Easter! Happy Spring!!
---
04/03/2036-- I had to stop because no more flowers would fit on the frame. In a way, I took notes on all 12 but clearly started with the flowers I wanted to try the most so maybe it's okay to not do the rest....I will have to move the rest of the undone flowers to a different post later without breaking the hyperlinks.

First big hobby lobby trip 03/20/26 bought a floral frame to hang them all in! First hardcore google sesh from 11:16am-3:31pm on a weekend lol
  • 6-Rose (Peach!)
Pic references: If I go all out, like this one, I count a total of: 11 exterior wide petals with a center-notch, 9 medium rolling petals, 5 interior cone petals. Really good bud close-up on wiki. Specific one I am doing: Peach Roses
Design notes: Probably the most boring flower to me because it is one of the most commonly, if not the most common flower that has patterns written for it. But peach roses sure are pretty!!!! I can't stop looking at this oneGreens: serrated edges, pinnate. Just can't forget the thorns!

    Inside (4-5)
    Middle (9)
Work a 2x4 swatch, live stiches longways and start CO either side to create a point. Cut off and sc from where center points to the side to cut seam. Add to central base.
    Swatch of CO 14 below
    Exterior(11)

  • 8-Gladiolus (Orange)
Pic references: The boldest I would go. Ambitious. The classic orange-red one I had in mind. Good wiki close-up of individual blooms. Specific one I am doing: Maybe this beautiful orange one. Maybe this really nice Glamini® Gladiolus Jenny?
Design Notes: Fuller blooms on the bottom with progressively unopened but color showing tips on top. Greens: Very thick stalk with frond things on top. make at least one extra length full length leaf/sheath(lol sword pun).

I am NEVER doing this one again. Turned out great but such a pain.

Supremely ugly leaf. Redo.
  • 3-Daffodil (Yellow/Two-Tone)
Pic references: Apparently daffodil pieces come in as wide a range as hand buttered popcorn! This cartoon-colored one is what comes to mind. Going with this one. Specific one I am doing:a type of narcissus....which means I couldn't tell any of them apart aside from color!!
Design Notes: six overlapping petals, close to tulip petal texture. Duck-bill orange center and daffodil yellow outside :) Greens: wide, very dark green stem, brown top right below bulb

Inside cone of daffodil done. Gotta do outside of it now.

Conclusion: I am DEFINITELY making more of these with the same weight as the light yellow. The dark goldenrod was too heavy and clunky.

  • 2-Violet (Indigo)
Pic references: The more pink side of the spectrum captioned here as a variant since they tend to be not as pink-isk. The more blue side of the spectrum. This is the final reference I am going with and the petals are almost very leathery/folded tissue paper texture.  Specific one I am doing: viola sororia aka common blue violet
Design notes: Holy Moly there are so many kinds of violets. Greens: leaves glossy, heart shaped

  •  7-Water Lily (Lavender)
Pic references:A purple nymphaea on this pond supplies site. I like this one by Lindsey Woods a lot. The one on this HGTV article looked nice. Specific one I am doing:Nymphaea 'Siam Purple' on this site
Design notes: Some pics have way more petals than others. Some Not really sure if it's a species thing, or what. Greens: Lily pad. No other greens.
Construction notes: Extremely clumsy and clunky to make each piece individually but needed to start somewhere. If I ever do this again, will make a disc-base of a circle of petals and then add petals above and below the disc. Would also create a more natural ruffle texture than what I did which was essentially double stack all petals. Must redo if I have time.

  • 4-Daisy (White/Yellow)

Pic references: I love Spruce Eats, and found a Spruce article on oxeye daisies which are called oxeye because the center goes in! I think the full-on puffed bobble of a classic English daisy would be more fun lol The Chicago Botanic was very helpful Specific one I am doing: TBD
Design Notes:  Extremely, extremely thin petal. Greens: surprisingly easy-going stalk, like a dandelion
Construction notes: CO and sc immediately into chain x sc 8 for Whites. Sc yellow half circle, into back loop only to create more of a spiral/pebbled texture.
Conclusion: This was actually a lot of fun and easy. Maybe adapt into a sunflower design.

  • 5-Lily of the Valley (White)
Pic references: Really like this one. The flower is naturally white, actually, but there are some that are the type of white that looks blue from a certain light. That is how i will justify the light blue lol. Specific one I am doing: Convallaria majalis
Design Notes: So interesting that these also, the lower ones tend to bloom first. I guess it's just a stalk trait, like how the gladiolus does it. Greens: Actually need a lighter green to hang the bells off of, and a darker green where it joins the rest of the main stem.
Construction notes: Knit bell and crochet tips. Knit rectangle stkntt, draw all loops closed and weave in end for perfect curve.  Sc curved tips facing knitside to pop out--purl side facing out. Makes too many ends to weave in. Not as much of a pain as the gladiolus. Can improve on the bell curve if I ever do this again by swatching the stckntt.

  • Extra fern experiment

Do by October!

    Finally going to embroider...maybe

I asked for this super specific Judit Gummlich book for Christmas and I'm finally in a state to open it.

Ironically, I strive for variety so I don't have any stkntt pieces to embroider on. Most of my things have lace or cables or a textural thing already. I guess it is swatch season again. Or maybe people will ask for mittens right as spring starts lol yeah right.

The book also has a recommendation for what type of thread to buy for embroidery. Oh joy another thing to buy. I may just split a poorly-plied worsted yarn that tends to split neatly for now. We'll see!

Timmy the tyke of a tooth for hygenist

Edit after gifting: She said she could tell which tooth I had modeled it after!!!!!

     Timmy the cantankerous tooth?

    Mischievous raised eyebrow

Very glad hubby said to try again later
Took a picture of my teeth and looked them for a really long time during my lunch break today to study the shape. Yes, that is my actual mouth.
    ---

Doing the cute little facial expression and maybe a toothbrush sword(?) can wait

    03/07/2026
Still trying to figure out the shaping but I'm done for one night. Debating gifting it like this but hubby said try again when I am rested. The center "well" is too deep. I might put a filling/cap on it
Stuffing is always the most exciting part
Folded up one pipe cleaner in each root
    4 sewn tips
    4 loose tips
    Short rows on one tip

Had a panic attack freak out in the chair unrelated to the dental work being done, and I was so thankful for how my hygenist got me through it and that I wanted to make her something!

I asked a different hygenist if she thought an anatomical model or a cute plushie would be better and she said part of hygenist school is drawing anatomically correct teeth so if someone gave her a model it would give her PTSD. Literally everyone said go with the cute one lol
