Granny Square Blanket for MIL

Granny square! This project was the first time I used granny squares.

Finished product! I did this in three days between in laws.

Folded up. I was afraid it wouldn't survive the wash so I washed it and sure enough this place where I had a bunch of slipped stitches that I frankensteined came undone but it was better because when I redid it I was able to do it properly and you couldn't tell.

Tip: If the yarn is cheap enough and the work is flat/uncomplicated enough, don't be afraid to wash it in the washing machine!

I also washed it with fabric softener and at first I was really disappointed that nothing happened, but then when I went to fix the patch, the individual yarn strands were really soft; what was still not as soft was the yarn all together.

Fair Isle Reindeer Hat for FIL

I did this so quick. It was two days. I messed up a lot because I did the pattern *2 to repeat around and I kept going on to the next row in the pattern on the second side instead of uniform all the way around.

The hat itself does not have a pattern. I made a brim, then the design, then evenly crown decreased, like any other hat. The deer design source was some google image a very long time ago that I drew a grid on????

I'm thinking about giving it to father in law to be for christmas.

The hat itself does not have a pattern. I made a brim, then the design, then evenly crown decreased, like any other hat. The deer design source was some google image a very long time ago that I drew a grid on???? So the "creator" would just be a google image, and then basic hat techniques.

The Monster

Edit 2026: the pattern was theknitguru's free sheep pattern and I laughed so hard I cried when I stumbled upon it in my ravelry.

I found a one square pattern for a tiny sheep and it went very wrong. Very, very wrong.

It's so creepy. Like. Creep factor.

F U Spider

This is the F U spider because he looks like he's flipping you off. Fiance, then boyfriend, glued on the eyes and I demanded that he have eyebrows. I swear fiance makes the same face sometimes.

Ben Berroco sweater For Me

Dec 2016 to May 2017.

Finished product!
I actually made this for my fiance but it was nowhere near big enough. Its so tight around his larger elbows and upper arms that he's ready to go clubbing with a lot of sweaty, very fit men.
---
The full pattern comes out. You tell me if it looks like the original Ben pattern.

The first (or second?) sleeve I made!

Tip: Pay attention to the construction! If you modify the sweater, make sure you modify it in the rest of the pattern. This is a knit front then back sweater but I did it in the round so I accidentally gartered the first few cables.

Sock yarn Hats for Parents

----
----
----
The yarn is Rusted Wagon Wheel from Savvy Skeins.
----
----
----
I am just amazed at how quickly sock works up! Even though the stitches are so much smaller it's a breeeeeeze.
----
----
----
Tip: try different tips!
I got a new pair of needles that I thought had a purely aesthetic black tip but it's actually rubber! I haven't decided if I like it or not because they hold the stitches in place way more than metal but when a stitch actually does slip it takes more effort to get it back on.

Crochet Carrot for mom

The greens!

The finished product!

The base!

The first shaping!
Tip: There is a reason why amigurumi is tiny. Stuffing escapes.

Crochet basket for niece

Finished work! Just noticed the blankets match my hook. I just single crocheted a tube. No pattern.

The basket by itself was doing the droopy lp of cloth thing so I made a stiff false bottom. Reduced yarn ends by using the ends already in the work to loop through the bottom and the cardboard before weaving in ends.

View from on top!

All these weird things in gifts and products I was given as a child suddenly make so much sense.

Piggy!

The pig is from Fred Meyer.

I did a tube and then once I fixed a leg to it I rotated the pig in my hands as I crocheted.
You can tell up close that the crochet stitches are stretched out onto the pig in some places.

It's made out of the same heather grey as the fiancé's sweater so they'll match!

Sweater for Fiance

This pattern is the saddle shoulder one I did the practice on earlier..Bangor Saddle Shoulder  Fiance said he didn't like it so I started making this, and then he goes, "Oh. That's kinda nice." So it is his when it is done.

armpit!

I made a massive mistake that I had to fix.  I split apart the front and back side incorrectly. I went to move over the stitches from the side that had too many to the side that I had too few. I accidentally moved stitches from the side that had too few so it was even TINIER. It took me a fair amount to puzzle it out and re-distribute/pick up and knit/combine and knit. Ugh. UGH. Will do my best never to make that mistake again. It was so....UGH.

Groooow sleeve growwww
I think they look like fishtails. Like a lot.

This. Freaking. Sleeve.

Had to tear out some. Pattern said shape cap  of sleeve--which has a saddle--and length and nothing else so one detailed google search later I BO and shape a set in sleeve cap because I figured the pattern--which is labeled as intermediate/hard--assumed you knew how to make one. I do the set in cap and the next section describes the cap is actually not a set in cap but just extra length of the full sleeve and to do the BO of everything around the saddle after. When I went to tear it out some rows caught on each other and it did the thing where rows get tangled in each other and pulls out more than one row randomly.

Other sleeve and neck left! Now attached!

Finished 06/08/19!

Right sleeve is wider and the extra fabric bunches up.
I need to reinforce the neck. I was split because I didn't have a 29 in the right size, which is why the bottom rib is loose and bunched up instead of tight. I will either go back and revise it or not. But neck I will definitely brush up.

Tip: It's true what they say....check your lot numbers....There's that stripe from not noticing the second(third?) ball of yarn was a different dye. Oops

Skacel Entrelac Hat

My hat did not turn at ALL like the skacel pattern I found on ravelry.
Finished 10/02/18

My mom modeling lol

This is the end of my stamina. I'm vexed. I didn't decrease with it. I wanted it to be a little taller. And it suffered. I also didn't crown it right because I just wasn't sure how to crown irregular shapes. I was already SO over it by that point I literally just knitted the top flat and slapped a pom pom on top. Turned out more like a beret than a skull cap.
----
----
----
The first row of entrelac is always a delight to see.
The rim was actually a fun new technique. Stockinette fold over

Tip: Sometimes you just have to get the right tool for the job.

IF. YOU. HAVE. A. COMPLICATED. STITCH. DON'T. USE. VERY. SHORT. DPNs. YOU. WILL. HATE. YOUR. SELF.

Half Treble Crochet Couch Blanket

I just kept going until I got bored of it.
----
----
----
Half treble up close. This was the first crochet project and I found it really ironic that I picked a pattern that looks like a sideways modified rib/stockinette.

Tip: Yes. Tension. Tension tension tension! I couldn't figure it out and poked the needle against my belly. I ruined SO MANY clothes. Mostly tank tops but it was what encouraged me to pick up circulars. My tip is that I have no tip. It just randomly clicked after eleven months or so.

Sandworm!!

We watched Dune and I was like we have to make a sandworm LOLLL

Felt cone teeth, DPN. It's about 2 and a half feet long

---
Basically everyone I know asked me what exactly the practice sandworm was because they thought it was something....adult.
---

I never got around to painting a cotton ball red and stuffing it at the very end.
